the small boats (vallams) and gill nets (gear). The main catches are black clam
(Villorita cyprinoides), Karimeen (Pearl spot also known as Etroplus suratensis)
and shrimp (Metapenaeus dobsonii). Kumarakom has a wide variety of houseboats
and is well known throughout the world for houseboat experience. They are used
only for tourists these days.
Munnar:-
Munnar is a hill station on the Western Ghats, a
range of mountains situated in the Idukki district of the Indian state of
Kerala. Munnar is a beautiful hill station, and was the summer resort of the
British. Tourists come here to see the vast tea plantations of the area. The
town itself is typically Indian with the usual shops, guest houses and is
really beautiful and traditional. It is a good place to stay to see the
surrounding countryside. It is also a popular place for Indian honeymooners.
The town is divided into two parts, Old Munnar, where the tourist information
office is, and Munnar, where the bus station and most guest houses are located.
Wayanad:-
Wayanad District in the north-east of Kerala, India.
The region was known as Mayakshetra (Maya's land) in the earliest records.
Mayakshetra evolved into Mayanad and finally to Wayanad. The Folk etymology of
the word says it is a combination of Vayal (paddy field) and Naad (land), making
it 'The Land of Paddy Fields'. There are many indigenous tribals in this area.
The Wayanad forests have been inhabited for more than 3,000 years. Historians
are of the view that human settlement existed in these parts for at least ten
centuries before Christ.
Thekkady:-
Thekkady is the location of the Periyar National
Park, which is an important tourist attraction in the Kerala state of India.
The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is spread across 777 km2 (300 sq mi), of which
360 km2 (140 sq mi) is thick evergreen forest. The Wild Life Sanctuary was
declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. The greatest attraction of Periyar are the
herds of wild elephants that come down to play in the lake.
Varkala:-
Varkala (Malayalam) is a coastal town and
municipality in Thiruvananthapuram district situated in the Indian state of
Kerala. On holiday, if you are not in mood of doing anything, then go to
Varkala. Varkala also has 2000 year ancient temple – Janardana Swami temple.
This temple is near the papanasam beach (Varkala beach) which is famous for the
holy water. The other major attractions in Varkala are Kappil Lake, Anjengo
fort, Varkala tunnel, Ponnumthurut Island and many more.
Alappuzha:-
Alappuzha, also known as Alleppey, is a city in
Alappuzha District of Kerala state of southern India. This town is considered
to be the oldest planned town in this region and the lighthouse built on the
coast of the town is the first of its kind along the Arabian coast (reference
encyclopaedia of Kerala in Malayalam language).
Cochin:-
Kochi, formerly Cochin, is a major port city on the
west coast of India by the Arabian Sea and is part of the district of Ernakulam
of the state of Kerala. Kochi is often called by the name Ernakulam, which
refers to the mainland part of the city. In spite of being a commercial centre,
Cochin has many attractions for sightseeing. The tourists attractions in Cochin
are bolghatty palace, dutch palace, jewish synagogue, aattachamayam,
cheeyappara waterfalls, chottanikkara temple, St. Francis temple and many more.

located middle of Kerala state. Central Kerala was part of erstwhile Kingdom of

Kerala are Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad. The most important city in this
